Profile
Sugar Creek Township Park's mission is to provide safe, no-cost, trans-generational recreational opportunities for residents of New Palestine and the surrounding community. Through park amenities such as park shelters, Veterans Memorial, one-mile walking trail, playground, and fitness stations, 9-hole disc golf course, ball fields, dog park, and green space, the park provides recreational opportunities for thousands of visitors every year. In addition, the park serves as the site of the Dani's Dream Eco-Trail outdoor educational lab.
Since establishing its first public park in southwestern Hancock County 15 years ago, the Park Board's goal has been to make Hancock County a better place by continuing to expand public recreation opportunities for the community. Most recently, via cooperative ventures of the local Veterans Memorial and Dani's Dream Eco-Trail groups, the park has expanded its recreational mission to include both history and environmental education components.
- During the pandemic, the park provided opportunities for residents to enjoy outdoor, socially-distanced activities including a new sunflower garden initiative that will continue each year.
- Improvements to the fencing and drainage at the existing dog park allowed the park to better serve a large increase in pet ownership that happened in the past two years.
- Extending the pavement area of our parking lot allowed for a safer parking opportunity for families of the Park’s youth soccer partner as well as a venue for semi-regular food truck events that became more popular in the past two years.
